Yes, all four years. Leadership is not a characteristic everyone is lucky enough to have, but unlike those individuals, I am one with many leadership qualities. I will greatly improve the saxophone section. If I am chosen for section leader, I will improve the saxophone section mentally, musically, and physically. I will show the freshman to lead by example, that their role in the Warren Mott Music Machine is as important as anyone else.

I will show everyone not to just be a follower, but a leader themselves and have freshman to even seniors look up to them with respect. Although band is exciting and fun to be a part of, I will teach them that band is not something to be taken lightly, but something that needs a great amount of work and maturity to make the band as successful as it is.

April 6 th , Drum Majors are renowned for their ability to lead by example, poise, and demeanor. As the marching camps start, future drum majors are taught drills, but not taught the skills they already possess. Drum Majors are held in high regard by instructors in universities because the instructors know the skill required to become a Drum Major. The responsibility to conduct a marching band is immense, taking a great deal of attention and dedication.

As a Drum Major, I will lead by example. Never taking action without consequence, I will lead carefully and effectively. I will innovate to the best of my ability, doing what I feel necessary to get the job done. Using my skill of rationalization, I will quickly remedy a problem if one should occur, and ask my fellow band mates to help in such situations to make the process run smoothly.

I will do my best to take a person to the side to offer advice, as opposed to ridiculing them in front of the band. The responsibility of the actions of the band I will take as my own, whether good or bad. Credit for the accomplishments of the band I would not expect to take in full or in part; the victory for me would be the accomplishment in itself.

As a Drum Major, I will lead by my poise. Inner harmony amongst the band members is a key factor in our success, and I will strive to achieve it.

I would ask all of the marching band members to keep personal grudges out of our performances, practices, and drills.

I would ask that they be mature in what they do, and to let them know that every single person in the band is important, whether the first chair of an instrument or the last. Without the balance of every instrument the band is incomplete, and it shows. I would let the freshmen know that they are as important as the seniors because of their link in the chain, and that they should acknowledge and embrace it.

I have a zealous enthusiasm for music and marching band that propels me forward, and can apply this gusto to my role as drum major. Energetic leaders are much better than halfhearted ones. My philosophy on leadership is simple: It was my mantra last years as a section captain.

When I was a freshman, I looked up to the marching band veterans because they were already excellent at something that I was struggling to master. Having role models is inspiring; it give people something positive to emulate. Additionally, I always offer to help- whether that means moving and unloading equipment, or coming in early to work with a marcher who needs a little extra assistance.

Furthermore, quitting is out of the question for me. Using excuses instead of giving your best, giving up on something or someone , or abandoning your responsibilities are things I absolutely do not believe in.

Promoting excellence in others starts with promoting it in yourself. I am unique among the other applicants seeking this position because of the qualities I have listed above. My musical experience, my determination, my diligence, and my passion for music make me singular among the many. I am the drum major this band needs. Apr 27 10 notes Reblog.
